Open Day at Aiish on November 23

Mysore, Nov 20, 2012, DHNS:

The All India Institute of Speech and Hearing (Aiish) is conducting ‘Open Day’ on November 23 at the department of clinical services between 9.30 am and 5 pm.
Public can get themselves evaluated for speech, language, hearing, reading and writing impairments, if required.


The aim of the Open Day is to educate and expose the young minds to the issues related to disability. Suggestions will be given to the children in understanding the needs of persons with communication disorders.

On this day, public can walk into the exhibition and the departments of the institute to obtain authentic information about the facilities available and work being done here.
They will be educated on hearing mechanism, speech production, prevention and management of communication disorders and vocal hygiene.


Competitions will be organised for schoolchildren, college students, teachers and general public. Competitions on events like drawing (theme: noise pollution), crossword puzzle (theme: words related to speech and hearing in Kannada and English), slogan writing (theme: prevention of hearing loss), elocution (theme: life of children with communication disorders). In addition, children and teachers can participate in other fun games.

Special events will also be organised for children with special needs. Games like treasure hunt, cap race, umbrella race, musical chair, soft ball throw, potato race, obstacle race, aiming at the target, pick ‘n’ speak, puzzles, singing and many more.

Head of schools or colleges may send their students to visit and participate in the ‘Open Day’ activities.
