Last Updated 23 November 2012, 17:14 IST

Pailan Arrows took Sporting Clube de Goa by surprise with a solitary goal victory in a seventh round I-League encounter at the Nehru Stadium, Fatorda on Friday.

Narayan Das scored the only goal of the match in the second session. The win took the Arrows’ points tally to 11 while that of Sporting Clube stood at seven points.

Sporting Clube took control of the proceedings right from the opening whistle and could have surged ahead in the third minute itself when a misunderstanding between Shouvik Ghosh and goalkeeper Soram Angamba saw Sporting’s Seiya Sugishita with a chance from an acute angle but he could not capitalise.

Pailan Arrows found themselves ahead in the 54th minute after a quick counter attack. The dangerous Holicharan Narzary cut past a defender and unleashed a left footer which the goalkeeper parried away, but Narayan was at the right place to give the finishing touches from an extremely narrow angle.

Prayag hold Salgaocar

In Kolkata, Prayag United and Salgaocar played out a 1-1 draw at the Salt Lake stadium.
Augustine Fernandes struck the opening goal for Salgaocar in the 41st minute.

However, Bello Rasaq equalised for Prayag after the break in the 58th minute and the scoreline stayed as both teams came away with a point each.
