Scrutiny of nominations

The scrutiny of the nominations for the December 5 Indian Olympic Association (IOA) elections took place here on Saturday.

The returning officer Justice (Retd)  V K Bali said the scrutiny process was almost over and there was a possibility of the Election Commission announcing the final list of valid nominations on Monday.

Justice Bali admitted there were objections on a few nominations but did not say whether they were based on the government’s sports code.

The International Olym­pic Committee on Friday had threatened to disaffiliate the IOA if it followed the sports code and asked it to report about the corrective measures in a reply by November 30 to avoid suspension.
