Leopard dies in snare

A male leopard was found dead at a coffee estate at Hebballi, 25 km from here, on the Tarikere road on Monday.

The big cat, which was about five years old, is said to have died Sunday night after being caught in a snare.

The leopard was caught in the trap laid for wild boars in the estate belonging to Abu, 20 km from the Bhadra wildlife sanctuary. A case will be registered against the owner of the estate, Divisional Forest Officer Krishna Udapudi told Deccan Herald.
