Militants attack CRPF camp in J and K, trooper killed

One CRPF trooper was killed and another injured in two separate incidents in Kashmir on Wednesday.

Police said militants attacked a CRPF camp on the Bemina by-pass road on the outskirts of Srinagar around 2:30 am on Wednesday.

A CRPF constable Praveen Singh Rajput, who was injured in the attack, later died on the way to hospital.

In a separate attack in the Bijbehara area of South Kashmir’s Anantnag district, at least two persons including a CRPF trooper were injured when suspected militants hurled a grenade late on Wednesday evening.

The police said CRPF jawan Ram Chand and a civilian were injured in a grenade blast at Arwani Chowk Bijbehara.

Reports said immediately after the attack the police and the CRPF cordoned off the area to nab the assailants.
