Construction of 10-storey building ahead of schedule

Over 200 workers constructed eight floors of the planned 10-storey building by this evening, in their attempt to complete the project in a record 48 hours time.

"The workers are ahead of their target in assembling 200 tonne building, having an area of of over 25,000 square meters" said Harpal Singh, CMD of Synergy Thrislington, a Mohali-based infrastructure company.

As the building is getting height the assembling work is getting slowed down. The remaining two floors of the building marking red and white cream colour texture are likely to be completed by 48 hour deadline tomorrow at 4.30 pm, Singh said.

The process to construct the 10-floor 'Instacon' sky scraper had started at 4.30 pm yesterday and is to be completed in record 48 hours. As many as three cranes and over 200 workers, including technicians, are working round the clock to complete the building in 48 hours.

Singh claimed that the construction technology, first of its kind in the country, is unique in many ways. All the components of the building were manufactured in the factory, pre-fitted with floors and other essentials including provisions for water supply, wiring, sanitation and air conditioning ducts.

"More than 80 per cent of the work is done in the factory," Singh said adding that the work would be in all likelihood to be completed ahead of 48 hours ending at 4.30 pm tomorrow. The concrete has been used only in the foundations and three inch deck floorings in the nut and bolt structure.

"It is an ultrafast technology of construction with less than 20 per cent of work at the site, there is minimal emission of flying dust and less pollution of water at the site," Singh said.

The facade of the building is double skinned PUF panel that ensures thermal insulation. This construction mechanism has been approved by the Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR) Delhi and Structural Engineering Research Centre (SERC) Chennai.
