Khushlani third in qualifying

Akhil Khushlani secured third place in the qualifying of the JK Racing Asia Series 2012 in inaugural Sidvin Indian Festival of Speed for cars at the Buddh International Circuit on Friday.

The South African Aston Hare clinched the pole stunning championship leader Nabil Jeffri of Malaysia by recording a best lap time of 1:59.369 in lap 10. Jeffri finished 0.461 seconds behind.

"I am pretty much okay with the results but I am still six tenths off Aston’s pace. We are going to sit down to have a look at the data and try to find the time for tomorrow's race," Khushlani said.

Aditya Patel clocked 2:00.656 to be the sixth fastest.
In the JK Tyre-FMSCI National Racing Championship, Sarosh Hataria, who is in second place in championship standings, recorded the quickest time to secure the pole for the LGB Formula 4 category with 2:27.297.

The Chennai racer was 0.382 seconds faster than Saran Vikram of Mars Racing. S Narendran (WSRF) was third with 2:27.851 in the 5.14-kilometre circuit. In the Indian Touring Cars category, veteran N Leelakrishnan took the pole with 2:27:585.

He was towed by Motorev India's B Balavijay (2:29.282) and Sunny Siddhu ( 2:30.984).
In the Indian Junior Touring Cars category, Mumbai based Fahad Kutty (Team Game­Over) set the fastest time (2:44.854) followed by  Feroze Khan (2:45.526)  and S Sreeram (Mega Racing Beema).

Around 125 drivers from India and abroad are expected to compete over two day.
