TVS Motor sales fall 2%
Chennai-based two-wheeler maker TVS Motor Company on Saturday reported 2.11 per cent decline in total vehicle sales in November at 1,71,837 units. The company had sold 1,75,535 units in the same month last year.
The decline was led by a drop of 15.42 per cent in two-wheeler sales to 37,470 units in November from 44,301 units in the same month of 2011.
According to the company’s statement, its total two-wheeler sales were at 1,66,783 units in November 2012, falling 3.5 per cent from 1,72,829 units recorded in November 2011.
However, motorcycle sales increased by around 5 per cent to 65,494 units from 62,608 units in the year-ago period.
Domestic two-wheeler sales stood at 150,056 units, in the month of November 2012, increasing marginally from 150,406 units in November 2011.
Three-wheeler sales of the company, however, went up by 86.77 per cent to 5,054 units from 2,706 units in 2011.
Total exports increased 17.27 per cent during November 2012 to 20,080 units.
