Okolie helps Bagan hold Pune FC

Odafa Okolie’s brace helped Mohun Bagan rally to hold Pune FC 2-2 in the ninth round of the I-League here on Sunday.

Chika Wali opened the scoring for Pune FC in the 30th minute. Substitute Arata Izumi doubled the lead in the 76th minute.

However, Okolie pulled one back in the 77th minute and restored parity for the Kolkata side in the 84th.

Bagan have 12 points from nine ties, while Pune FC have 14 from eight games.

Churchill held

Third-placed Churchill Brothers played out a goalless draw with United Sikkim in Paljor Stadium in Gangtok on Sunday missing out a huge opportunity to maintain further pressure on I-League table leaders Dempo SC and East Bengal.

Churchill moved to 19 points from nine matches while United Sikkim have seven points from nine matches.

Mumbai FC pip Prayag

Mumbai FC rode on a Yusif Yakubu goal in the added time to rally past Prayag United 3-2 in Kolkata. Prayag started the match on a positive note when Ranty Martins gave them the lead in the 29th minute.

Mumbai FC equalised through  a header by Evams Quao in the 52nd in an intense second-half.

Substitute Abhishek Yadav made his presence felt when he scored in the 82nd.

Prayag did not give up and equalised in the second minute of injury time through Shankar Oraon.

Mumbai’s Ghanian recruit Yakubu made it 3-2 in the very next minute to hand them a brilliant win.

Mumbai FC shot themselves to top-half with 13 points, while Prayag remained in the bottom half with six points.

Air India down Sporting

Air India held on to Baldeep Singh’s first half strike to down Sporting Clube de Goa 1-0 at Nehru Stadium, Fatorda, Margao.

Baldeep found the net off a flag kick taken by Rahul Bheke in the 36th minute which turned out to be the match-winner.
