Woman kills baby, ends life

Bangalore, DHNS:

Dowry harassment forced a woman to commit suicide after killing her five-month-old baby girl in Bandenellasandra village in Bannerghatta police limits.

The deceased have been identified as Shwetha (20) and Ankitha. The incident came to light after Shwetha’s father Anjanareddy lodged a complaint about his daughter and grand daughter missing on Wednesday night. The passers-by noticing a pair of slippers near a well 100 metres away from Shewtha’s house, alerted Anjanareddy. He found the bodies floating in the well.

In her suicide note, Shwetha had held her husband responsible for their death. She had married Nagesh, a driver, two years ago. He allegedly harassed her for dowry and forced her to seek a share in her father’s property, the police said.

Reddy alleged that Shwetha was forced to end life as she could no longer bear her husband’s torture. The police have formed a team to arrest Nagesh, who is absconding.
