Trapped tiger rescued

A four-year-old tiger became tangled in a barbed wire fence at a farm near Kanuru Nidugumba of the taluk, when it tried to attack a worker, on Tuesday.

The big cat was later rescued by personnel of the Forest department. The tiger suffered injuries on the left front limb, but is said to be out of danger.

The incident occurred at around 8.30 am when Kavala, the worker, was tethering bullocks near paddy fields belonging to Panjiri, near the palm grove owned by Sullimada Dinu Chinnappa of Nidugumba.

When the tiger attempted to pounce on him, it became trapped in the fencing.

The worker informed Chinnappa, who in turn called the Forest department. Forest officers rushed to the spot, tranquilised the animal and caged it.

The big cat was later movedto Murkal, from where it was transported to the Mysore zoo.
