Lorry runs over man

Shashikanth Pande, a construction contractor from Bihar, was run over by a lorry near Ibbalur, Sarjapur Road, on Wednesday night.

According to the police, Pande, who was speeding on his bike, lost control and rammed it into the road median. Pande, who fell on the road, was run over by the lorry, killing him on the spot. Investigation is being conducted by the Madiwala traffic police, who have registered a case.

Cashier robbed

M Paramashivaiah, cashier with a private firm in Kasturinagar, was assaulted and robbed of cash and valuables in Ramamurthy Nagar, on Wednesday night, by two unidentified men.

The duo, who came on a bike, accosted Paramashivaiah, while he was shutting shop, under the pretext of seeking directions. They robbed him of two gold chains, gold rings and the day’s collection of Rs 1.7 lakh cash, after threatening and assaulting him.
 
Man held for fake heist

Sanjeev Kumar, employed with building contractor Naresh in Peenya, has been arrested by the police, on charges of lodging a false complaint of robbery.

According to the Peenya police, Kumar, who schemed to  swindle, had claimed that three men had assaulted him on December 3, in Kariobanahalli, and robbed him of Rs 44,000 he was carrying.

Suspecting the veracity of his claims and supported by Naresh’s own suspicion of his worker’s story, the police, on interrogation, found that Kumar had faked the robbery to help repay his debts. The police have recovered the cash he had stashed away in his house.
