Teen thrashed to death over booing in cricket match

Booing a fielder in a cricket match turned fatal for a teenager in Lakhimpur Kheri district in Uttar Pradesh, around 150 km from here.

The incident occurred on Sunday at Shuklapur locality during a match between two local teams. Simran, 14, booed a fielder at the boundary after the latter failed to latch on to the ball scooped up the batsman. A heated argument ensued, but others present at the field intervened immediately and the matter was closed for the time being.Soon after the match, two members of the fielding side, identified as Anees and Imran, caught hold of Simran. They thrashed him with sticks and bats after he protested.

Simran suffered serious head injuries and was rushed to a nearby hospital where doctors declared him brought dead.
