Karnataka clinch first gold on offer

Bowling Tenpin Nationals: Aishwarya-Prathima pair on song

Aishwarya Rao and Prathima Hegde kick-started Karnataka’s campaign in the Canara Bank fifth National Tenpin Bowling Championships in style, landing the title in the women’s doubles competition.

The duo amassed a total pinfall of 2189 to clinch the first title on offer while State-mates Judy Bobby and Pooja Hegde finished second, a further 100 pins behind, at the Blu-0, Orion Mall here.

It was a close competition for the bronze position with Delhi and Tamil Nadu fighting it out with each other until the last frame of the event. Delhi’s mother-daughter duo of Anuradha Sarda and Sugandha Sarda eventually lost by one pin to Tamil Nadu's Sabeena Saleem and Fridy Rose, who totalled 2058.

In the women’s All Events, 18-year-old Aishwarya Rao, who is based in Singapore, leads the pack with total pinfalls of 1097 followed closely by Sabeena Saleem (1095). Prathima Hegde is in third, trailing the day's leader by five pins.
