A man from Mysore has been arrested for trying to cheat a person from Bangalore by producing forged documents here recently.

L P Suresh, son of late M Puttabasappa of J C Nagar, Nazarbad, was trying to sell a plot of farmland projecting it to be a residential plot with the help of forged documents. Taluk panchayat member Puttaswamy exposed the case while Suresh was attempting to register the plot in the name of A S Netravati, wife of S L Ravi, Vijayanagar 2nd Stage, Bangalore, at the sub-registrar’s office here.

Suresh had purchased farmlands at Chikka Ankanahalli and had found a buyer in Netravati for a 29ftX40ft plot on it without getting it converted into residential purpose. Suresh had got various rubber stamps and seals made of Chikka Ankanahalli gram panchayat development officer to be used in the forged documents. Puttaswamy brought the matter to the notice of sub-registrar Premakumari that the documents produced for the registration of the plot were forged and urged her not to register the property.

Panchayat development officer Mahadevachar, who was summoned to verify the documents, denied signing any of the documents produced before him.

Sub-inspector M Venkataramappa and his colleagues took the accused into custody following a complaint by the sub-registrar. TP member Puttaswamy said more than 15 such cases have been reported  in areas surrounding Chikka Ankanahalli over the past six months.

“People are being cheated. So, an enquiry should be initiated into similar cases,” he urged.
