Rain brings chill, fog likely today

Last Updated 11 December 2012, 19:46 IST

Drizzles on Tuesday brought down the temperature in the city by nine degrees after a considerable warm December this year.

The maximum temperature was recorded at 18.7 degree Celsius, nine degrees below Monday’s temperature and four degrees below normal, while the minimum stood at 11.5 degrees. Humidity at 8:30 am was 89 per cent.

The Met department said usually warm spells last for two to three days but this year it has lasted for seven days. The department attributed these warm spells to easterly waves and increased moisture along with heavy clouds causing a rise in temperatures. Since November, the temperature has been recorded above 30 degrees before these rains.

The Met department forecasts fog on Wednesday morning. “The sky will remain partly cloudy on Wednesday. Light rain is expected in some areas,” said an official.
