Saina loses to Baun

 India’s Saina Nehwal got off to a losing start in the BWF Super Series Final here on Wednesday.

Fourth-seeded Saina went down to Tine Baun of Denmark 14-21, 21-11, 19-21 in the women’s singles group B encounter that lasted for 51 minutes.  Saina lost the first game but came back strongly in the second to level the scores. Baun prevailed in the keenly contested third game.

Saina will take on second seed Juliane Schenk of Germany on Thursday in the league-cum-knockout meet. Schenk lost to Ratchanok Intanon of Thailand 17-21, 20-22 in her opening encounter.

In group A, top seeded Chinese Xuerui Li overcame third seeded compatriot Shixian Wang 21-19, 15-21, 21-18 while South Korea’s Ji Hyun Sung beat Eriko Hirose of Japan 21-12, 21-15.
