KSRTC driver ends life, harassment alleged

Jayaprakash, a driver with the Karnataka State Road Transport Corporation committed suicide by consuming poison at the bus depot, allegedly due to harassment by his higher officers, on Wednesday.

The staff attached to the Pavagad depot of the KSRTC staged a protest by suspending operation of buses, demanding action against officials they held responsible for the death. Manjunath, a worker, charged the divisional controller, depot manager  and accounts officers of torturing Jayaprakash, leading to his suicide.

The protesters said all employees attached to the Pavagad depot would have to end their lives, if the working conditions do not change there.
