The three-day photography expo showcasing the splendid 60 years legacy of Vidhana Soudha is organised by the District Information Department to commemorate the diamond jubilee celebrations of Vidhana Soudha.

More than 250 eye catching photographs portraying the blend of history and contemporary years is indeed a rare treat for citizens. The heritage of the structure imprinting the state’s constitutional authority is displayed in the exhibition that elaborates on the history that is less known. The exhibition only proves the statement that photography speaks more than words. The nostalgic moments is also much more cherishing as one can record the mammoth legacy of the state in memory.

The 250 odd pictures are displayed for two days and the expo will be open for public at Royal Gardens in Udupi till December 15. The pictures comprise some of the historic moments and also cover the recent occurrences.

The expo begins its historic journey with the picture of “Praja Pratinidhi Sabha” that took place in 1942 and it ends with the picture of the Suvarna Soudha and the momentous assembly session in Belgaum.

The photographs of Suvarna Soudha in Belgaum is captured in detailed manner. The structure is shown right from the foundation stone laying ceremony to the completion of the entire structure. In fact, each and every minute detail about the Suvarna Soudha is exhibited.

Besides the expo has pictures of all Governors, Chief Ministers and Speakers of the state right from the beginning till date. The innate architectural wonder of Vidhana Soudha is executed in the photographs that are exhibited. In 1973, the then CM Devraj Urs renamed the state as Karnataka and instated the new map of the state on the steps of Vidhana Soudha.

The picture demonstrating the event brings live the memorable event to the spectators. It also attests some of the remarkable occasions that have taken place in the 60 years history of Vidhana Soudha.

The occasions include Dr B R Ambedkar’s visit to the state, SAARC Sammellan that took place in Bangalore in 1986, All India Speakers conference that was held in Bangalore, China Prime Minister Wen Jiabao’s visit in 2005, Vietnam President  Truong Tan Sang’s visit to Bangalore in 2011, are all part of the photography exhibition.

The exhibition also comprises the beautiful photographs of Mysore palace. The palace is shown with it’s magnificent architectural and historic legacy.
