Bengal seal outright win

Patient half-centuries by Wriddhiman Saha and Rohan Banerjee after an impressive morning spell by Shami Ahmed helped Bengal beat Hyderabad by four wickets and record their maiden outright win in this season’s Ranji Trophy campaign at Eden Gardens here on Monday.

Brief scores: Group A: At Kolkata: Hyderabad: 115 and 181 all out in 62.4 overs (Akshath Reddy 49, Ashish Reddy 42; Shami Ahmed 6-71, Laxmi Ratan Shukla 3-38) lt to Bengal: 116 and 183/6 in 63 overs (Rohan Banerjee 56, Wriddhiman Saha 52 n.o.; Anwar Ahmed 3-68). Bengal: 6 points; Hyderabad: 0.

At Gwalior: Madhya Pradesh: 323 vs Punjab: 148 and (following on) 354/8 in 92 overs (Yuvraj Singh 131, Jiwanjot Singh 103, Gaurav Yadav 4-86).

At Bhubaneswar: Railways: 405 vs Rajasthan: 135 all out in 64 overs (Ashok Menaria 27; Anureet Singh 5-40, Ranjitkumar Mali 3-42) and (following on) 153/2 in 58 overs (Sourabh Chouhan 51, Robin Bist 35 batting, Ashok Menaria 29 batting).
