Gold for Sandhu, Sharan

Manavjit Singh Sandhu won the gold medal in men’s trap event in the 56th National Shooting Championship at the Karni Singh Range here on Saturday.

Sandhu came on top with score of 117+22. The silver medal was won by Birendeep Sodhi of Air India (116+23) and the bronze medal went to Zoravar Singh Sandhu of Air India with (118 +20).

In the finals of air rifle men’s event, Chain Singh of Army maintained his lead and won the gold medal with a score of 594+102.4, leaving behind Beijing Olympics gold medallist Abhinav Bindra, who settled for a silver (591+103.2). The bronze was won by Satyendra Singh of Army with (590+104.1).

In the junior men’s trap event, the gold medal was won by GS Sharan of Karnataka with a score of 112. There was a tie at a score of 100 for the silver which was won by Mohd Shees of Uttar Pradesh. The bronze medal went to Adhiraj Singh Rathore of Rajasthan.

In the free pistol men’s event, the gold was grabbed by Om Prakash of Army (556+93.6).
