Last Updated 25 December 2012, 20:35 IST

A middle-aged man was arrested here for eve-teasing a woman constable dressed in plain clothes.

The eve-teaser, Munna, in his late 40s, was apprehended at gate No 1 of Sanjay Gandhi Biological Park, after he was chased down by the cop in an auto-rickshaw.

According to the police, Munna passed lewd comments on the woman constable, deputed as a bait to nab eve-teasers.

A Resident of Raja Bazar, Munna was charged with not only passing lewd remarks on the cop but for also making objectionable comments on other women. He was finally apprehended while trying to enter the zoo after a hot pursuit in an auto-rickshaw.

Pulling him out of the three-wheeler, the woman constable gave him a sound thrashing and was lent a helping hand by on-lookers and passers-by.

Later, the police arrested him under Section 354 of the Indian Penal code (IPC) and brought him to the Mahila (women) police station. Munna, however, said that he was only humming a song unto himself and was not targeted at the woman cop.

Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Patna Amrit Raj said that the accused, son of a retired doctor S K Singh, was mentally unstable, and therefore, efforts were on to verify his background. Munna was later released on bail.

Meanwhile, in light of the nationwide outrage over the Delhi gang-rape, the Patna police have decided to deploy more woman constables at different locations to apprehend roadside Romeos in a bid to check cases of eve-teasing and molestation.
