The 16th Jaipur Mega Limb Camp began here on Thursday with the distribution of Jaipur foot, crutches and calipers to physically challenged persons.

Bhagwan Mahaveer Committee for Physically Challenged and Rotary Club Peenya have organised the annual camp.

Shivaprakash from Coimbatore, one of the lucky few who got an LN-4 prosthetic hand at the camp, said: “I lost my forehand after an accident three months ago and one of my relatives in Bangalore told me about this free camp. It is definitely a boon for those who cannot afford costly prosthetics.”

Disabled people from Maharashtra, Tamil Nadu, Kerala and Andhra Pradesh attended the camp on the first day. Besides free equipment, people suffering from polio will get free treatment at M S Ramaiah Hospital.

According to Gautham Chand Nahar, chairman, Jaipur Limb Camp, the camp will be also held at Victoria hospital.

The camp currently on at Ganesh Bagh on Infantry Road will conclude on January 9.
