Five-time champions Bombay University will take on Jain University, Bangalore, in the two-day final of the All India Inter-Zonal Inter-University Cricket Tournament for Rohinton Baria Trophy, starting from Saturday at Manipal Endpoint Ground.

In the semi finals, Bombay University beat Jamia Millia islamia, Delhi by 60 runs at Endpoint Ground whereas Jain registered a comfortable eight- wicket victory over Jiwaji University, Gwalior, at MIT Ground.

Bombay University with a spirited performance from the tail enders added 44 more runs to their over night score of 173, reaching 217 in 67.5 overs before getting all out.

It was a creditable performance by the last wicket pair of Sagar Gorival and Dabholkar Prateek who came together at 150 in the 48th over.

The 67-run partnership propped up the Bombay total to give the bowlers enough runs to do their job. Sagar was unbeaten on 43 and Dabholkar made 31. In reply, Jamia Millia Islamia could score only 157 before being all out in 64 overs. Vinit Dhulad took 4 for 27 and Dahbolkar Prateek scalps 3 for 35 for the Bombay team.

At MIT ground, Jain bowled out Jiwaji University, Gwalior for just 116 in 38.2 overs. Jiwaji won the toss and opted to bat first, but ran into trouble immediately and were five down for only 31.

Sohrab Dhaliwal and Prashant Mahvai added 47 runs for the sixth wicket when Sohrab was run out, 35, to a direct throw by the Jain captain Kaunain Abbas.

With that partnership gone, Jiwaji innings did not recover and were all out for 116, thanks to tweakers Shashindra and Daniel Sequeira who took three and two wickets respectively.

Medium pacer C A Karthik too scalped two wickets for the Bangalore team. Jain scored the required runs in 23 overs losing just two wickets. Siddarth KV scored an unbeaten 56 for Jain and right hander Samarth Ravi scored 43 runs not out.

Jain to miss big names This is the second time the Bombay University and Jain University are meeting in the Rohinton Baria Tournament. Last year, they played for the third and fourth places and Bombay had beat the Bangalore team.

Jain University who lost to Guru Nanak Dev University, Amritsar the eventual winners, in the semifinal last year will be missing the services of K L Rahul and H S Sharad who are doing duty for Karnataka in the Ranji. They will also miss wicketkeeper Akshay Kodoth whose name has not been included in the 16 as he was playing for Kerala in Ranji.
