RTE admission process schedule to be displayed today

 The RTE admission process schedule will be displayed at Bangalore South district BEO offices on Saturday.

Accordingly, every school has to provide free admissions to children from poor economic background, by reserving 25 percent of seats for these students. The State government has specified that the BEOs have to display the number of seats available in every school in their jurisdiction for the 25 percent reservation provision under RTE.

From January 7 to February 5, parents have to send in their applications for admissions either directly to the school or to the BEO concerned. The schools will duly examine the applications received and put up a selection list on February 6 and submit to BEO.

The BEO will send the final consolidated list of students to the school by February 28. The commencement of admissions is on March 1. For further assistance, parents can call the toll free number 180042511005.

The State government has also clarified that, in case where schools are running pre-primary classes, reservations under RTE will have to be provided for LKG. In case, schools begin their pre-primary only from UKG, reservation has to be provided from UKG.

This will not be applicable to nursery or baby sitting classes. Also, the government has strictly mentioned that parents cannot choose to secure free admissions under RTE for any other classes apart from those specified under the RTE Rules, according to circular issued by DPI commissioner Uma Shankar.
