JOIN USDoctor held for sexual abuse, extorting money
A 51-year-old doctor was arrested after allegation of sexual assault, extortion and cheating a nurse for four years at his clinic in central Delhi’s Patel Nagar, police said.
Ashok Danir, was arrested from his clinic, Delhi Diagnostic Centre, after a nurse at the centre approached Patel Nagar police with a complaint on Monday.
In the complaint, the victim said Danir was sexually exploiting her after she joined his clinic in 2008.
34 lakh extorted
She also said for over four years he cheated and extorted around Rs 34 lakh on some or other pretext from her.
A police officer said the doctor was sexually exploiting her every day and took money from her.
He did not return it to prevent her from leaving him. She broke her silence.
On Monday, she finally broke her silence and registered a police complaint against him.
“After receiving her complaint we sent her for a medical examination to Lady Hardinge Hospital, which confirmed that the victim had been subjected to sexual assault,” the police officer said.
“The accused was produced at a city court on Tuesday which sent him to a day’s
judicial custody,” the officer said.
“We are still probing the extortion allegations levelled by the victim and many more things have to be investigated,” the officer added.
