Fog plays spoilsport for rlys

The Northern Railway cancelled a dozen trains on Friday owing to fog. Around 25 trains are running late.

Lichchavi Express, Toofan Abha Express, Lal Quila Express, Howrah Janata Express, Garhwal Express and Patna Jansadharan Express are among the major long-distance trains that have been cancelled.

At least nine trains were rescheduled, including Bhubaneswar Rajdhani. “Out of the nine trains rescheduled on Friday, Bhubaneswar Rajdhani, Swatantra Senani and Mahananda Express will depart on Saturday,” said a Northern Railway official.

Moreover, 15 trains scheduled to arrive here on Friday were running behind schedule.
“Mahananda Express, Unchahaar Express, Bhubaneswar Rajdhani, Swatantra Senani and Kashi Vishwanath Express are running late by more than 10 hours. Mahananda is late by 30 hours,”  a railways official said.  

New Shatabdi for Chd

A new Shatabdi Express will be launched on January 14 to run on the Chandigarh-New Delhi-Chandigarh route for six days a week.

This will be the third Shatabdi to run between Delhi and Chandigarh, the Lok Sabha constituency of railway minister Pawan Kumar Bansal.

Comprising one executive AC chair car and nine AC chair car coaches, train number 12046 Chandigarh-New Delhi Shatabdi Express will depart from Chandigarh at 11.40 am to reach New Delhi at 3 pm the same day.

In the return direction, train number 12045 New Delhi-Chandigarh Shatabdi Express train will depart at 7.15 pm to reach Chandigarh at 10.35 pm the same day. It will not run on Sunday.
