Tragedy strikes on festival eve

Had Nagarjun kept his word, he would have remained alive, celebrating Sankranti festival on Monday. Now, pall of gloom reigns at his house, with the family plunging into grief, after losing their only son on the eve of the festival.

Umesh and his wife were in haze after receiving the phone call to come to the hospital. However, none could address their queries about their son on visiting the hospital. The couple, in vain, searched for their son in the emergency wing and also in the ICU.

Umesh, who grew impatient in the midst, told the gathering, “I had told him not to go. He had also replied in positive on Saturday, saying that the plan is cancelled. Later, I told him not to go in a car”.
Umesh was having a shave in the morning, when he noticed a car stopping in front of the house, through the window. “Nagarjun didn’t even tell me while going,” he said.

It was only later, one mustered courage to break the news of Nagarjun’s death to his father.
Quoting his parent’s statement, a police personnel said, when his mother insisted to have breakfast before leaving home, Nagarjun replied; “I will be coming back soon”. He got into the waiting car and left. He had also taken Rs 50 from his father in the morning.

Umesh also has two daughters.
