Red Bull college cricket begins

Mysore, Jan 15, 2013, DHNS:
Defending champion Rizvi College, Mumbai and Jain University from Bangalore made good start in the Red Bull College Twenty 20 Cricket tournament which kicked off here on Tuesday.

The first day saw a spectacular game by Jain University (Bengaluru) who bowled away the audience with their game. They beat St. Pauls College from Kochi by a large margin setting the impression from the very start that they were here to win. K L Rahul from Jain University was labeled the star performer of the day, after he scored a classy 63-ball 109. All-rounder Samarth R (Jain) played a key role in skittling out Kochi for 67, chasing 200 with his match-winning spell of 5/12 off 4 overs.

In the second match MMCC, Pune lost to Vivekananda (Chennai) in a rather close match which kept the audience holding on to their seats till the very end. The other matches also saw exciting ends with Kirorimal College Delhi edging out Aurora, Hyderabad by 9 runs. Defending champions, Rizvi College (Mumbai) also got off to a winning start, by trumping MSU (Baroda) by 9 wickets.

Vinit Dhulap starred for Rizvi College by taking 3 wickets in his spell.

In today’s group matches, Rizvi (Mumbai) will take on Prafulla Chandra College (Kolkata) and Jain University (Bangalore) will play against R J Tibrewal C C (Ahmedabad) at the Gangotri Glades.

Aurora College (Hyderabad) will fight it out with Trinity College Jalandhar, while DAV (Chandigarh) will make their debut in the tournament against Chennai.
