Ashwin spurs DSC to victory

Ashwin PV smashed an unbeaten 62 as Dayanand Sagar College scored a six-wicket win over VIT, Pune, in the International College Premier League (CPL) T20 cricket tournament organised by Jain University’s Centre for Management Studies, here on Wednesday.

Batting first, VIT, Pune, could manage only 102/7 in 17 overs. FSC Clement top-scored with 44 (33b), while Sourabh Kulkarni made 28. Syed Fawwad Hussain (3-13) and Rahul Rajendra (3-25) were the wreckers-in-chief. Ashwin led the reply (62 n.o., 44b) as Dayanand Sagar College chased down the target with ease in the 16th over.

SDM College, Mangalore, defeated EIILM College, Kolkata, by 38 runs in another match. SDM were bowled out for 142 in their 20 overs with Jairaj Shetty making 31. EIILM College found the going tough and were dismissed for 104 in 20 overs. Amit Hari hit 26, while Mahesh Shenoy and Vibin scalped two each.

TKR College, Hyderabad, eased past Reva Institute by eight wickets in another tie. Sandeep claimed 3-11 as Reva Institute were restricted to 106/9 in 20 overs. Sudhanshu was the lone Reva batsman to excel, scoring 46. TKR overhauled the target losing only two wickets in the 16th over. Sumanth (39) and Sandeep (30 not out) shone for the winners.

SDM College, Mangalore: 142 all out in 20 overs (Jairaj Shetty 31; Pritam 2-20, Dipankar 2-28) bt EIILM College, Kolkata: 104 all out in 20 overs (Amit Hari 26; Mahesh Shenoy 2-13, Vibin 2-16). Man of the match: Jairaj Shetty.
Reva Institute: 104/9 in 20 overs (Sudhanshu 46; Sandeep 3-11, Saheth 2-13) lt to TKR College, Hyderabad: 105/2 in 15.4 overs (Sumanth K 39, Sandeep B 30 n.o.; ). Man of the match: Sandeep.
