The Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences (RGUHS), on Wednesday, sought clarification from the Medical Council of India (MCI) regarding its circular on offering post doctoral certificate courses (PDCC).

RGUHS officials said they did not have clarity as it does not mention anything about whether the university should close courses presently running or cannot start new post doctoral certificate courses in new subjects.

A MCI board member said he was not aware about any decision prohibiting beginning of courses for this year.

Circular

According to MCI circular “as per direction of Board of Governors, medical colleges/ institutions/ hospitals are informed not to start PDCC courses. None of health universities can start PDCC courses without prior approval of Medical Council of India.”

The institutions have also been asked to not start any PG Medical courses not included in the PG Medical Education Regulations 2000, without approval from MCI.

It further specifies that medical colleges and institutions may apply as per regulation directly to the Chairperson, Board of Governors, Medical Council of India.
