'Duniya' Vijay's wife complains of threat to her life

The domestic trouble of actor ‘Duniya’ Vijay took a new turn, on Friday, with his wife Nagaratna lodging a complaint of life threat against her brother-in-law with police.

She alleged that her brother-in-law Nagaraj threatened her over the phone besides urging her to sign on divorce papers. “He threatened that he would ram a car and drive a truck over me. I am extremely afraid and my family members and children are living under constant threat,” she alleged.

At the Police Commissioner’s office she met Joint Commissioner of Crime (West Division) Pranab Mohanty to say she still loved Vijay and wished to stay with him. “Nagaraj and his wife have poisoned my husband’s mind. He is acting at their behest. Nagaraj is responsible for the turmoil in my married life,” she alleged.

Charging his wife Nagaratna with fabricating stories and spreading rumours, Vijay said, a few people wanted to tarnish his image and are using her as a tool against him. I have decided to part ways with her and it’s final. I don’t want a media trial. Let her come to the court and I will face her.”

“My wife never treated my ailing mother properly. Nagaratna’s attitude was objectionable. I did not take the decision in a hurry. I weighed options and decided to divorce her,” Vijay said, alleging his wife just wanted money and property from him.

Claiming his wife was suspicious about his character, he said, she would enquire his whereabouts with producers and directors and create scene at the shooting location. However, Nagaratna termed her husband’s accusations as false.
