In fresh legal trouble for MIM legislator Akbaruddin Owaisi, a court here has directed him to appear before it on February 23 in connection with a criminal case filed against him for alleged hate speech.

Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Rajashekar V Patil issued the summons yesterday on two similar complaints lodged by advocates Dilip Kumar and Dharmapal praying for prosecuting Owaisi for his hate speech in Andhra Pradesh in 2012.

The court directed Andhra Pradesh DGP to produce the Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen leader before it on February 23.

Akbaruddin Owaisi was arrested by AP police on January 8 and has been lodged in jail under judicial custody.
