The biannual Aero India international seminar will be held here from February 4 to 6, a top Defence Research Development Organisation (DRDO) official announced on Friday.

The theme of the seminar, organised by the DRDO, will be ‘Aerospace Products - Challenges in Design to Deployment’.

Addressing mediapersons here, K Tamil Mani, chief of the Centre for Military Airworthiness and Certification, said: “Considerable efforts in design and development have been made indigenously and these efforts will expand in the future.

“The theme has been decided keeping in mind the fact that faithful production of the design intent is key to the success of aerospace products.”

He said that about 875 delegates, including 25 foreign delegates, have confirmed participation in the event and, of them 125 are women and 110 students.

“Of the 110 students, three to four have got free entry sponsored by DRDO, while many others have been provided discounts,” he said.

Twenty seven foreign speakers, including those from the US, Sweden, Germany, Brazil and Israel, will be delivering talks at the seminar. Around 35 Indian speakers from various agencies, including the armed forces and defence PSUs will also attend.

Stating that India has enough experience in the operation of all aircraft and airborne systems, Mani said: “Our efforts in R&D in these areas should take into consideration the problems faced by the armed forces in deployment of the aircraft and airborne systems. The translation of the design to production needs to be done accurately for getting a quality product.”

Another senior scientist, said that the LCA’s daily flying display along with LCA-Navy’s static display will be one of the highlights at the upcoming Aero India, scheduled from February 6.
