Sai Dutt, Sindhu crowned

Rising shuttlers PV Sindhu and RMV Guru Sai Dutt notched up straight-game victories to clinch the women’s and men’s singles titles in the Vankina Anjani Devi memorial all-India Senior-ranking Tournament here on Sunday.

World No 16 Sindhu, who was the top seed, prevailed over seventh seed Arundhati Pantawane of Petroleum Sports Promotion Board (PSPB) 21-13, 21-19 at the Gopichand Academy.

In the men’s singles, third seed and world No 38 Sai Dutt rode on his better returns and smashes to outwit top seed and close friend Sai Praneeth B 21-19, 21-14.

Doubles: 2-Dewalkar Akshay (AI)/ Jerry Chopra Pranav (PSPB) bt 1-Tarun K/ Arun Vishnu (PSPB) 16-21, 21-9, 21-15.

Women: 1-PV Sindhu (PSPB) bt 7-Arundhati Pantawane (PSPB) 21-13, 21-19.

Doubles: 5-Pradnya Gadre (AAI)/ G Ruthvika Shivani (AP) bt J Meghana (AP)/ Rituparna Das (WB) 18-21, 21-17, 21-18.

Mixed doubles: 3-Dewalkar Akshay (AI)/ Pradnya Gadre (AAI) bt 1-Arun Vishnu/ Aparna Balan (PSPB) 17-21, 21-10, 21-18.
