Last Updated 29 January 2013, 17:26 IST

MLA Sa Ra Mahesh urged authorities not to handover land where New Type Model School (NTMS) is situated to Ramakrishna Ashram at any cost.

Speaking at a press meet here on Tuesday, delving into regulations of government, he said that government land within 10 km radius of city area cannot be handed over to private organisations.

Violation

But here, the government itself is violating the order.

Mentioning about the proposed ‘Viveka Spoorthi Centre’ at the area, he said, the government itself can launch the centre without giving the land to Ashram.

He said, the issue will be discussed in the assembly session and warned of legal fight if the government does not take a call there.

Govt opinion

He pointed out that revenue department had sought government to provide opinion on handing over the land to Ashram on January 5 but government has granted the land on January 8 even without gathering public opinion.

He attracted the notice of government that Race Course owes Rs 18 crore tax to the government and upon recent notice issued, the Racecourse had paid only Rs two lakh.
Mahesh alleged negligence of district in-charge minister Ramdas about the crop loss which is up to Rs 51 crore in K R Nagar taluk due to drought.

District unit president of Janata Dal (Secular) Rajanna, secretary Manju, Ayub Khan, Srinivas, zilla panchayat member C J Dwarakish and others were present.
