JOIN USEx- PM calls for apolitical secular mutt
Former prime minister H D Deve Gowda said Adichunchanagiri mutt should grow barring party or caste considerations for eternity.
Speaking at ‘Bhaktha Sangama’ organised to pay ‘Shradhanjali’ to the late seer Sri Balagangadharanatha Swamiji here on Tuesday, he said all earlier seers have developed the mutt selflessly and it is the responsibility of all current seers to build it further on the strong foundation.
Seer Sri Nirmalanandanatha Swamiji inaugurated the programme.
Chief minister Jagadish Shettar, recalling that a project to provide drinking water to 108 villages around Adichunchanagiri had been conceived, said it would be implemented soon.

He said the state government was committed to fulfill the vision of the late seer that irrigation facilities should be provided to Kolar and Chikkaballapur.
Former chief minister and union minister S M Krishna described Sri Balagangadharanatha Swamiji as a true environmentalist. Former chief minister D V Sadananda Gowda said the late seer had served all fields that affect human lives. “He strived for the overall upliftment of the society. He had realised that health is wealth,” he noted.
Former chief minister H D Kumaraswamy pointed out that writer Patil Puttappa had described the mutt as secular. He said the mutt strived for not just Vokkaligas, but for the cause of all backward communities.
Former Union ministers Ambarish and Ananthkumar, deputy chief ministers K S Eshwarappa and R Ashoka, state ministers B N Bachegowda, C T Ravi, D N Jeevaraj, C P Yogeeshwar, S Suresh Kumar, Basavaraja Bommai, MP N Chaluvarayaswamy, ex-minister D K Shivakumar and seer Sri Nanjavadootha Swamiji of Pattanayakanahalli Spatika Swarnapuri mutt were present on the occasion.
