'I cannot be sexy like Katrina and Bipasha'

Yukti Sehgal, Feb 7, 2013

Celeb Talk

You remember her as a young girl-next-door romancing Ali Zardari in London, Paris and New York but Aditi Rao Hydari is all set to transform her sweet image into a bold and sexy character in the new Vishesh Bhatt movie, Murder 3. Metrolife asks her how the new film is different from its prequels. “Murder 3 is about relationships. It is a different kind of a love story which is a thriller and a mystery. There is polygamy and instant gratification involved. How you meet people and hook up,” explains the actor, who will be co-starring with Akshay Kumar next in Naam Hai Boss.

Even though, there are some actresses who are creating a distinct identity for themselves in the industry, such as Vidya Balan, Aditi does not compare herself with her contemporaries.“I think she is a wonderful actress and has worked very hard to be where she is. But you can’t change who you are. People often tell me that I have an innocent face. But at the same time, I cannot be sexy like Katrina Kaif and Bipasha Basu. I can only be sexy in my own way. So, that is my identlty."

According to Aditi, if anything is done with honesty and love, the result is excellent.
The actor who has shared space onscreen with Randeep Hooda speaks highly of the underrated actor. “He is so talented. I have a lot of respect for him as an actor. Though he appears grouchy on the outside, inside he is a very large hearted person. As for Sara Loren, her other co-star, is a “very silent person and likes being with her mirror. She comes from a very different environment and is a lot of fun to work with.”

Does she have a dream role? “I would love to do Kareena’s role in Jab We Met and Rani’s roles in Saathiya and Bunty aur Babli.”

Though she kick-started her career with Tamil and Malayalam films, Aditi always wanted to be a part of Bollywood. “I love Hindi films and culturally and aesthetically am more in tuned to what is happening here”.

What does she consider a high point in her life? “It is very difficult to define one moment. There are so many special things that have made me who I am and which have had a very important impact on my life. Many people have touched my life.”

As Kiran Rao’s cousin, what does she think are the perks of having a godfather in the industry? “I have taken no help and haven’t been given any help by Kiran and Aamir but yes, Kiran is a very dear part of my family.”
