One lakh marriages in just three days

HYDERABAD, Feb 11, 2013, DHNS:

Come February 13, one lakh couples will tie the knot in Andhra Pradesh alone in just three days. The reason being, there are no auspicious days for weddings till May.

“Out of the three days February 14 is the best,” said Sankaramanchi Ramakrishna Sidhanthi, who is helping parents of the brides find function halls or temples to conduct the ceremony.

Based on the Telugu calendar the ongoing “Magha Maasa” is good for weddings and there are no good days till “Vaiskha Masa”, he added.  Kosuri Ramakrishnamacharyulu said, “These three days are the last best days for tying the knot in the Nandana Nama Samvatsara. Particularly the 21.01 Revathi Muhurat on February 14 is rare and auspicious.

Being Magha Masa there is evenness in climate and soon after February 17 the “Moodha” enters which is considered inauspicious for Hindus.”

As a result of this, all the function halls, temples and choultries are booked and at present there is no vacancy anywhere.
