Last Updated 12 February 2013, 20:00 IST

Over 25 short films by schoolchildren from underprivileged communities of City were screened at Chowdaiah Memorial Hall on Tuesday.

The short films of less than 10 minutes each revolved around issues of garbage menace, traffic rules, environment protection and waste management, among others.

Adobe Youth Voices (AYV), in association with American India Foundation (AIF), has been organising ‘Bangalore Live’ annually, wherein students are encouraged to express themselves through documentary films, photography, animation, radio projects and web communications.

This year too, students from various government high schools, government-aided schools and NGOs across the City took part.

Abilities of disabled

The short film that won the hearts of spectators and judges was ‘Disabilities,’ by students of Association of People with Disabilities (APD), Hennur Road. Talking about his experience, Raghuswamy, a student of Association of People with Disabilities, said: “The movie of two minutes and 18 seconds talks about abilities of disabled people and to treat them on a par with others by society. We took two weeks to make the movie.”

The Adobe Foundation also announced the second edition of Adobe Youth Voices Aspire Awards, global online media festival.

Students aged 13 to 19 years are invited to compete across eight sub-categories – animation, narrative, collaboration, photography, documentary, poetry, music video and graphic design and submit entries by April 2013.
