Cricket: Mahajana, St Philomena's in PQ finals

 K Vinay Kumar scored a century (134, 14x4s, 5x6s), helping SBRR Mahajana PG Centre, Mysore, to register a 51-run win over JSS College, Nanjangud and book a berth in pre-quarterfinals  at the KSCA Inter-collegiate knock-out cricket tournament 2013, conducted by KSCA Mysore Zone at the Maharaja's College grounds in the city on Thursday.

Batting first, SBRR Mahajana PG Centre, Mysore rattled up 246 for three in 30 overs. A century by K Vinay Kumar (134) helped his side. In reply, JSS College, Nanjangud, were bundled out for 195 in 30 overs. Harshavardhan top scored with 60 runs. Medium-pacer Yashwanth took a hat-trick in the second over of the match and ended up with three for 27 contributing to the victory. Sunil Kumar lent him good support by taking scalping three wickets for 37.

In another tie, St. Philomena’s College,  Mysore helped by a century by J Shashank (125) and a good all-round performance by Aquib M A (four for 45 & 42), registered a 44-run win over JSS Law College to enter the pre-quarterfinals.
