Additional Commissioner of Police M A Saleem has described the ‘Public Eye’ as a forum which enables citizens to turn from being mere spectators to vigilantes against those violating the traffic rules.

The statement was made during the inauguration of a road safety and awareness campaign here on Saturday. During the event, participants pledged to support and follow the traffic rules, and also to report about the violators of traffic norms.

Speaking on the occasion, Baddi Sanjay Vishnu, the senior general manager of Dr Agarwal Eye Hospital, said: “Though infrastructure for ideal traffic regulation is present in the City, most of the time it is only due to negligence or sheer disregard for traffic rules that in some accidents occur.”

On the occasion, Manjunath Rao and Anasuya, parents of Kannada film actor Updendra, decided to pledge their eyes to the hospital.
