The Rajasthan government on Sunday announced a compensation package to farmers for damage to standing crops due to recent rain and hailstorm in the state.

According to the state government, all district collectors have been directed that small, marginal and other farmers who have suffered 50 per cent crop damage will be provided agricultural input grant, which will be maximum on two hectares.

For non-irrigated areas, it will be Rs 3,000 per hectare. In irrigated areas, it will be Rs 6,000 per hectare for the area served by wells and canals, and Rs 8,000 per hectare for areas irrigated by diesel pumps.

Under the package, it has been directed that small and marginal farmers who have suffered more than 50 per cent damage to crops will be exempted from electricity bill for four months.

The relief announced in the package will be provided to farmers whose names are not entered in revenue records, and have produced crops on sharing and contract basis.
To take decisions on problems like this, a three-member committee has been constituted comprising tehsildar, patwari and gram sevak.

Farmers who have suffered 50 per cent crop damage will be exempted from Abiyana charge. In villages where over 50 per cent crops had been reported, collectors will send detailed reports for declaring them scarcity-hit.

Land revenue recovery will be postponed in villages that are declared scarcity-hit.
The recovery of short-term loans will also be postponed and will be converted into medium term loans. Families affected by hailstorms will be provided relief under the norms of the State Disaster Relief Fund.

The district collectors concerned will calculate the amount according to the declared package, and present online demand of budget and distribute relief immediately after the allotment of budget.
