US lawmaker operated upon in Hosmat
US Congresswoman, Diana DeGette, who was on a visit to Bangalore, was operated upon at the City’s HOSMAT hospital, after she had a fall on the steps of the Shiva Temple on Old Airport Road here. She was discharged later and was scheduled to fly back to the US on Wednesday morning.
Hospital sources said DeGette had come to the City as part of a delegation. She was climbing the steps to the temple on Tuesday morning, when she fell and sustained a left hip dislocation. Members of the delegation, along with the support staff, rushed her to Hosmat.
“She was in severe pain when she was brought to the hospital. We shifted her immediately to the operation theatre and sorted out the dislocation problem,” Dr Thomas Chandy from Hosmattold Deccan Herald.
The Congresswoman was later discharged and returned to her hotel, along with the delegation. DeGette is the U S Representative for Colorado's first Congressional district and a Chief Deputy Whip. She is a member of the Democratic Party.
