Cloud, social media to accelerate SME growth

With the help of cloud computing and social media, IT is now going to transform the way SMEs operate in India.

Though there were some initial concerns on data moving away from their premises, SMEs are understanding how IT can accelerate their business growth, speakers reiterated at the CII Karnataka IT Conclave 2013 on Friday.

According to Chairman, Microsoft India, & Chairman of IT & ITeS Committee of CII Bhaskar Pramanik, IT can transform the way SMEs operate and the ability of enterprise is directly related to its technology's ability to quickly transform and align to the changing business environment.

Pramanik said, “ People are losing trust in advertising and depending more on social media posts of user experiences. This in turn will shape the feedback mechanism and the entire product design lifecycle. In SMEs, technology adoption has already taken over pen and paper. Mobility, social networking, cloud, and big data will be the four major trends for the next decade. Cloud drives the other three trends. Now, so many applications to run SMEs are available at a single point via Telecom players.”

Principal Secretary, Department of IT, BT and S&T, Government of Karnataka I S N Prasad said that the IT industry in Karnataka is highly matured and growing on its own strength without looking at government for support.
