Special trains for summer
The South Western Railway will be operating special trains between Hubli-Chennai-Hubli (Tri-weekly Express) and between Yeshwantpur-Ernakulam-Yeshwanthpur (Weekly Express) to clear extra rush during the summer season.
Hubli to Chennai
Hubli-Chennai-Hubli Express (train number 07314) special will start operations with effect from April 3, 2013 up to June 28, 2013. It will depart from the Hubli junction station at 8.20 pm on Sundays, Wednesdays and Fridays and arrive at Chennai Central station at 11.55 am the next day.
On route, the Express will cover Haveri, Ranebennur, Harihar, Davangere, Birur, Arasikere, Tiptur, Tumkur, Yeshwantpur, Banaswadi, Krishnarajapuram, Bangarpet, Jolarpettai, Katpadi and Arakkonam. In the return direction, the Express will depart at Chennai Central at 2.10 pm on Mondays, Thursdays and Saturdays with effect from April 4, 2013 to June 29, 2013 and arrive at the Hubli junction station at 07-15 am, the next day.
The Tri-Weekly Express Special will have total 14 coaches, consisting one AC 2-tier coach, one AC 3-tier coach, six second class sleeper coaches, four general second class coaches and two second class luggage-cum-brake vans.
Weekly Express Specials between Yeshwantpur and Ernakulam (train number 06543) will start from April 7, 2013 up to June 23, 2013. It will depart from Yeshwnthpur 8.20 pm on Sundays and will arrive at Ernakulam at12-15 pm, the next day.
On route, the Express will cover Banaswadi, Krishnarajapuram, Bangarpet, Kuppam, Jolarpettai, Erode, Tiruppur, Coimbatore, Podanur, Palghat, Ottappalam, Shoranur, Thrissur and Aluva. In the return direction, the Express will depart at the Ernakulam station at 2.20 pm on Mondays, with effect from April 8, 2013 to June 24, 2013 and arrive at Yeshwantpur station at 3.30 am, the next day.
The Weekly Express Special will have total 17 coaches, consisting of one AC 2-tier coach, one AC 3-tier coach, seven second class sleeper coaches, six general second class coaches and two second class luggage-cum-brake
As per the communication received from the Ministry of Railways, train numbers 17212/17211 (Tri-Weekly Express) running between Yeshwantpur-Machliptnam-Yeshwantpur have been named as “Kondaveedu Express,” said a release from the South Western Railway.
