Praveen, Dilip star in Sparklers' victory

A century by Praveen and seven-wicket haul each by B Dilip Kumar and Aditya helped Sparklers Cricket Club score a 13-run win over City Gymkhana in the semifinals of the KSCA Group I, Division V league for the JB Mallaradhya Trophy here.

In the final, Sparklers will meet Freelancers Cricket Club who overwhelmed Friends Cricket Team by seven wickets.

Praveen struck a quickfire 140 (149b, 16x4) as Sparklers put on a competitive 271 for six in 55 overs in their first innings. Aditya Reddy chipped in with 52.

Gymkhana managed to post 253 all out in their reply, Aditya claiming 4/50 and Dilip 2/40. With a narrow 18-run cushion, Sparklers extended their lead to 186 after rattling 168/7 from 30 overs in their second essay. Gymkhana threatened to chase down the target but were bowled out for 173 in 29.4 overs. Dilip (5/34) and Aditya (3/33) again shared the spoils.†

Brief scores (semifinals): Freelancers Cricket Club: 165 all out in 48.5 overs (Sanjeeth 29, Rakesh 46; Anand V 4-47, P Aditya 4-21) and 144/5 in 30 overs (Rakesh 27, N Prasad 62 n.o.; P Aditya 3-60) lt to Friends Cricket Team: 182 all out in 52.2 overs (Aditya P 39, Sanjay 39, Hemanth 26; N Prasad 3-46, P Ganesh 3-50, Deepak Reddy 2-20) and 129/3 in 25.2 overs (Katke Subhash 44 n.o., Vivek 25, Afzal Khan 25).

Sparklers Cricket Club: 271/6 in 55 overs (Aditya Reddy 52, Praveen 140, Raunq Khurbanda 29 n.o.; Vinod 4-91) and 168/7 in 30 overs (Bhaskar Reddy 53; Teja 3-38, Sandeep Patil 3-51) bt City Gymkhana: 253 all out in 53.3 overs (Tilak VT 28, BM Ullas 74, Sandeep Patil 30, Supreeth 35; B Dilip Kumar 2-40, Aditya 4-50) and 173 all out in 29.4 overs (Tilak VT 32, Vinod 59; B Dilip Kumar 5-34, Aditya 3-33).
