Mamata cracks whip
New Delhi, Oct 22, PTI:

Cracking the whip in the wake of Wednesday’s train accident in Mathura, Railway Minister Mamata Banerjee on Thursday ordered the transfer of Agra divisional railway manager and sent two technical officers on leave.


The decision was taken after Banerjee chaired a safety review meeting with Railway Board officials in which she is believed to have pulled up the Board top brass. DRM Agra division R D Tripathi was transferred with immediate effect and the Dean of Indian Railway Institute of Transport Management, Lucknow, Devesh Kumar Mishra was posted in his place.

Besides, senior divisional signal and telecom engineer, Agra division, and senior divisional electrical engineer (operation), Jhansi Division, have been asked to proceed on leave.
Banerjee is understood to have said anyone found wanting on safety aspect in railway operation will be sternly dealt with.
