Former Minister and ruling BJP MLA C C Patil, injured when his gunman accidentally opened fire at a village in Gadag district, underwent an abdominal surgery at a private hospital today, hospital sources said.
The MLA is stable after undergoing a three hour surgery for injuries to his spleen and large intestine and has been shifted to Operation Recovery Unit to avoid infection, they said.
He would be in the ICU for two days for close monitoring," they said.
Patil was on a visit to attend a function at Menasige village in Ron taluk last night when the gunman pulled the trigger accidentally in the melee caused by protests by some villagers against launching of a welfare programme with assembly elections just two months away.
