'Indian dramas best in international scenario'

Indian dramas stand first in the international scenario and convey moral values, said noted poet and playwright Ramdas.

He was speking after inaugurating the invited audience programme of drama organised by AIR, Mangalore at Muddana Mantapa of M G M College. Ramdas inaugurated the programme by putting make-up to a drama artist.

The new and latest Kannada drama of Dr Girish Karnad, ‘Benda Kaalu – on Toast’  was staged  by Rangabhoomi Udupi.

Noted Director Chidambar Rao Jambe who directed the drama was the chief guest of the function. “Dramas should pose challenges to the directors. Then only they will be able to interpret the society,” he observed. 

Head of Programme, AIR, Mangalore, Dr Vasanthkumar Perla presided over the function. He said that Akashvani is providing forum for all kinds of arts and literature.
AIR Mangalore has organised nine special invited audience programmes during this financial year.

AIR Transmission Executive Dr. Sharabhendra Swamy compered. The drama, “Benda kaalu on toast” directed by Chidambara Rao Jambe was also performed by Ranga Bhoomi, Udupi. It deals with the complex nature of city life and the changing relationship in family life. A large number of gathering witnessed the drama.
